The Opportunity

As our presence across the region continues to grow, we are expanding our Communications and Government Relations function and seeking a skilled Communications and Government Relations Manager for the African region. This influential role offers the opportunity to shape how Hitachi Energy s story is shared across the continent, strengthening our voice, elevating our brand, and deepening engagement with key stakeholders.
You will manage relationships with government institutions, oversee local communications initiatives, and ensure compelling and consistent messaging that supports our business priorities and contributes to Africa s energy transition. This is an exciting opportunity for a communications and public affairs professional who is looking to make a meaningful impact in a fast evolving industry.
How You ll Make an Impact
- Develop and execute integrated communications strategies aligned with regional business priorities.
- Lead event planning and execution in accordance with global branding guidelines.
- Produce high quality content, including internal messages, press releases, articles, speeches, and briefings.
- Manage media relations by responding to inquiries, coordinating interviews, and maintaining strong relationships with press outlets and identify thought leadership opportunities.
- Oversee brand positioning, crisis communications, and local/regional social media activity.
- Support legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts in collaboration with the Regional Managing Director.
- Represent Hitachi Energy & build strategic relationships with governments, embassies, ministries, and institutions across Africa.
- Lead policy engagement and prepare executive briefings in collaboration with internal teams.
- Collaborate with country and regional teams to align policy priorities with business objectives.
- You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background
- Bachelor s degree in communications, political science, public affairs, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience in communications, media relations, and government relations.
- Strong cross functional communication skills across digital, editorial, branding, and internal communications.
- Excellent writing and editing abilities with a proven capacity to craft clear, compelling messages.
- Experience engaging diverse stakeholders and assessing the impact of policy developments.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in international and cross cultural environments.
- Fluency in English and Arabic; knowledge of French is an advantage.
Desired Candidate Profile
