Roles & Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Complete a wide variety of complex estimating activities for EPC contracts including but not limited to, utilizing performance measurement techniques to determine levels of deliverable status, utilizing company estimating software and tools, writing estimate narratives, developing estimate procedures, supporting estimate database updates and providing project historical data, and leading estimate task.

  • Function in a leadership role, leading and providing technical guidance to other estimators in delivery of Client task assignments.

  • Solid experience and technical leadership expertise in Quantity Surveying for EPC contracts.

  • Responsible for providing technical guidance to Associate Estimators.

  • Ensures that the tasked estimating team delivers quality controlled, best in class estimates for projects and programs assigned as task leader.

  • Provides guidance, direction, and specialized assistance to an estimate team tasked to resolve complex estimating problems on tasks assigned.

  • Assists project management team with preparation of schedules for estimate preparation, defining resource requirements for estimate deliverables, review of Client task request for estimate deliverables, and documents and publication involving impacts to probable project/program cost.

  • Leads estimate task teams who are tasked to perform probable cost estimates for products and services that may be contracted and delivered by company, or that the Client may solicit in the open market.

  • Utilizes knowledge in resources skills sets and durations required to prepare and deliver task assigned.

  • Prepare material takeoffs for complex EPC projects, drawings, plans and specifications.

  • Reviews takeoffs provided by the EPC Contractor and checks for mathematical and technical accuracy.

  • Oversees the preparation of top down work breakdown structures (WBS) defining tasked estimate scope, work elements, major project components and subsystems, and assign appropriate estimate staff to each element of the estimate by system and subsystem.

  • Reviews contractual documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and scope changes.

  • Quantifies the impacts to contract cost as a matter of contractual commercial terms and conditions based on stipulations given in the general conditions and commercial terms section of a contract.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field (or equivalent work experience) and 10+ years of related work experience.
  • Previous experience using estimating database supported software.
  • Previous experience in EPC construction contracts related to water transmission and distribution schemes.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Ability to lead an estimate team that is required to perform complex EPC estimating activities typical to the engineering and construction industry projects and programs is required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of company and project procedures and practices.

  • Familiarity with typical project controls software such as Primavera scheduling software, Estimate/Schedule Transfer tools, Contract Manager, and DMCS (Document and Materials Control System) is required.

  • Must have a clear understanding of, and ability to work with, construction contract commercial documents, drawings and specifications, and be qualified to be a project/program estimate team leader.

  • Previous experience in EPC construction contracts related to water transmission and distribution schemes.
