Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Syria Portfolio Coordinator/ NAFS Programme Manager, the consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Output 1: Develop and confirm the detailed outline and approach with the Programme Manager.
- Output 2: Undertake comprehensive desk-based research, including literature review, contextual analysis, political economy assessments, and examination of previous recovery and peacebuilding efforts across the Arab region.
- Output 3: Conduct interviews with approximately six key informants to gather insights and validate findings.
- Output 4: Prepare the draft policy paper, incorporate feedback from ESCWA and peer reviewer and finalize the document.
- Output 5: Deliver the revised policy paper, reflecting final comments from the Syria Portfolio Coordinator and NAFS Programme Manager.
Desired Candidate Profile
A bachelor's degree in one of the following majors: Political Science, political economy, International Relations, International Development and communications or a related area is required. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 10 years of experience working with international development, local development, or humanitarian agencies is required. Demonstrated strong experience in conducting research, capacity-building, training, methodology design, and writing reports. is required. Proven knowledge of the Syrian and established publications record on conflict and fragile contexts is desirable. Extensive experience of working on projects related to conflict-sensitivity, political economy analysis and inclusion methodologies and frameworks is desirable.
