Consultant Paediatric Emergency Medicine

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Paediatric Emergency Medicine Physician to join a busy, high-acuity emergency department in Al Ain. The role involves delivering expert emergency care to neonates, infants, children, and adolescents, including trauma, medical, and surgical emergencies, in accordance with international best practices.

The successful candidate will play a key role in clinical leadership, patient safety, and the ongoing development of paediatric emergency services.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

• Provide consultant-level emergency care to paediatric patients across all acuity levels
• Rapid assessment, diagnosis, and management of:
• Medical and surgical paediatric emergencies
• Paediatric trauma and resuscitation cases
• Lead and participate in paediatric resuscitations and emergency procedures
• Supervise patient flow, triage, and clinical decision-making within the paediatric ED
• Participate in on-call, night, and weekend shifts as per departmental rota

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

• Work closely with:
• Paediatricians and paediatric subspecialists
• Surgeons, anaesthesiologists, and intensivists
• Nursing and allied health teams
• Coordinate timely admissions, transfers, and referrals

Governance, Teaching & Quality

• Ensure compliance with DOH (HAAD) regulations and hospital policies
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and morbidity & mortality meetings
• Provide teaching, mentoring, and supervision to junior doctors and trainees
