Job Summary We are seeking a highly qualified Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist to join a leading hospital in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide expert diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive care for infants, children, and adolescents with gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and nutritional disorders. This role involves clinical excellence, multidisciplinary collaboration, teaching, and contribution to service development within a tertiary-care setting.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties
- Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care in paediatric gastroenterology
- Diagnose and manage complex gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, and nutritional disorders in children
- Perform and interpret paediatric endoscopic procedures (diagnostic and therapeutic)
- Manage inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), celiac disease, chronic liver disease, feeding disorders, and functional GI disorders
- Participate in emergency and on-call consultant rotas as required
- Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings
- Provide consultation support to general paediatrics and other specialties
- Supervise and mentor junior doctors, fellows, and allied health professionals
- Participate in teaching, training, and continuing medical education activities
- Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety programs
- Support hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and evidence-based practice
Desired Candidate Profile
Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent)
Specialist qualification in Paediatrics
Subspecialty certification/fellowship in Paediatric Gastroenterology
Recognised board certification (e.g., UK CCT, US Board, Canadian, Australian, or equivalent)
Eligible for licensure with DOH (Abu Dhabi)
Experience
- Minimum 5 8 years post-specialty experience, including consultant-level experience (as per DOH requirements)
- Strong experience in paediatric GI endoscopy is essential
- Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making
- Strong communication and family-centred care approach
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment
- Commitment to continuous professional development and clinical excellence
