Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Deliver consultant-level care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
  • Lead the assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex medical and surgical cases
  • Supervise invasive and non-invasive ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and organ support therapies
  • Participate in emergency response, trauma care, and resuscitation services
  • Provide on-call consultant coverage as per hospital rota

Leadership & Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team rounds and clinical decision-making
  • Collaborate closely with pediatric subspecialties, anesthesiology, surgery, emergency medicine, and nursing teams
  • Support clinical governance, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives

Academic & Educational Role

  • Teach and mentor junior physicians, fellows, residents, and nursing staff
  • Participate in audits, research, morbidity and mortality meetings, and continuous professional development
  • Contribute to policy development, clinical guidelines, and protocol standardization

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory Requirements

  • Medical degree from a recognized medical school
  • Board Certification / CCT / Specialist Certification in Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine
  • Minimum 5 10 years of post-qualification experience, including substantial PICU exposure
  • Eligibility for DOH (Abu Dhabi) Consultant License

Desirable

  • Experience in tertiary or quaternary-level PICU settings
  • International board certification (e.g., UK CCT, American Board, European Board, Arab Board)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and crisis-management skills
