Job Description

Organizational Context

The consultant will have a good understanding of contemporary global road safety issues and knowledge of what works and what does not work across each component of the safe system approach to road safety. The consultant will also have experience in course implementation and stakeholder engagement for road safety training with a focus on the safe system approach and road user behavioural risk factors in the context of low- and middle-income countries.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

At the direction of the GRSP Senior Manager or Chief Executive Officer (CEO):

  • Co-ordinate and deliver GRSP road safety related education and training programmes that are soundly based on the safe system approach and road safety related evidence base.
  • Undertake day-to-day coordination and liaison activities with all GRSP staff, partners, speakers and course participants.
  • Act as the focal point for GRSP s course implementation partner, John Hopkins University.
  • Lead GRSP s part of the nomination and application process for course participants with partner organisations.
  • Maintain oversight the logistics of course delivery and providing support during course delivery.
  • Contribute to the process of agenda development and speaker recruitment.
  • Travel to locations, including to low- or middle-income countries as required to plan, coordinate or deliver programmes.


Upon commission of consultant services, specific Terms of Reference (ToR) will be provided. TORs will include specific project objectives, desired outcomes, consultancy outputs, method of delivery and time requirements.

Education

Required

  • Relevant technical training in road safety.


Preferred

  • Undergraduate degree in public health or road safety, with a focus on behavioural risk factors.


Experience

Required

  • At least 5 years experience working in the field of global road safety, with a preference for experience in road safety in the low- and middle-income country context.
  • Experience in delivering training programmes.
  • Experience in working with international partners to implement training programmes.
  • Experience with planning and supporting the delivery and logistics of training programmes with international participants.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex partnerships to facilitate programmatic outcomes.

  • Good command of another IFRC official language (French, Spanish or Arabic).
