Roles & Responsibilities

The candidate must demonstrate proven knowledge and hands-on experience in the software licensing management domain, particularly with engineering and technical applications. A strong understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) principles and excellent analytical skills are required.
- Experience with the OpeniT license management tool is considered a strong advantage.
- Software Asset Management (Enterprise Applications & Engineering Software)
• Manage the full software license lifecycle: demand planning, procurement support, entitlement
validation, allocation, deployment, harvesting, and retirement covering both enterprise applications
and engineering software portfolios.
• Perform entitlement vs. consumption reconciliation and compliance analysis.
• Support vendor true-ups, renewals, and software audits (e.g., SAP, Microsoft, Oracle).
• Interpret and operationalize licensing agreements, EULAs, and contractual terms.
• Maintain accurate license inventories, documentation, and audit-ready records.
Engineering License & License Server Management
• Administer and optimize engineering application licenses managed through license management
systems such as (FlexNet Publisher (FlexLM) and OpeniT)
• Manage and monitor license servers, vendor daemons, and concurrent license pools (e.g.,
CAD/CAE/PLM tools).
• Analyze debug logs and usage logs to identify denials, idle licenses, peak usage patterns, and
optimization opportunities.
• Perform capacity planning for concurrent environments based on utilization and denial metrics.
• Support high-availability configurations (triad setups, failover, redundancy).
• Coordinate with system administrators to ensure proper configuration, patching, and performance of license services.
• Optimize license parameters (timeouts, borrowing, allocation rules) within contractual boundaries.
License Monitoring, Analytics & Optimization
• Monitor monthly software usage and generate operational and compliance reports for both enterprise applications (e,g., SAP, Microsoft, Oracle) and engineering systems.
• Use SAM analytics tools (e.g., OpeniT, FlexNet Manager, or equivalent) to identify (Underutilized
licenses, Reclaim opportunities, Cost-saving measures, Compliance risks)
• Analyze consumption trends, anomalies, and usage patterns.
• Provide data-driven recommendations to IT and business stakeholders.
• Support software portfolio rationalization initiatives.
IT Financial Management & Chargeback Support
• Support IT chargeback models by allocating license and software costs to business units and services based on consumption or agreed allocation methodologies.
• Prepare and support annual software budgeting cycles.
• Perform budget vs. actual variance analysis and provide financial insights.
• Support accrual calculations and financial closing activities.

Desired Candidate Profile

8-12 of total IT experience with 5+ years of in Software Asset Management (SAM), engineering license administration, and IT financial management.

▪ Hands-on experience managing concurrent license environments (e.g., FlexNet/FlexLM).

▪ Experience using SAM tools such as OpeniT, FlexNet Manager, Snow, ServiceNow SAM, or similar platforms.

▪ Strong understanding of major vendor licensing models (SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, Autodesk, Dassault, Siemens, etc.).

▪ Usage monitoring, reporting, and generating consumption summaries.

EDUCATION

▪ Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field.

▪ Professional certifications are a plus: Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), ITIL Foundation, ISO 19770, and/or SAM-related certifications.

KEY SKILLS

▪ License management and software asset optimization especially for engineering applications, SAP, and Microsoft environments.

▪ MS Office, data analysis and reporting (e.g., Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).

▪ Analytical mindset with the ability to translate usage data into actionable recommendations.
