Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Support the design and implementation of control and automation solutions for new projects, modifications, and upgrades.
- Provide technical guidance on DCS, PLC, SCADA, ESD, and F&G systems integration and configuration.
- Review vendor documents, data sheets, and instrument selection for compliance with project and field requirements.
- Lead preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs for all field instrumentation and automation assets.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in control systems, transmitters, analyzers, and field devices.
- Monitor and analyze instrument reliability trends and implement improvement plans to minimize downtime.
- Ensure calibration and loop-checking activities are executed as per standards and schedule.
- Oversee operation and maintenance of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) networks.
- Manage system backups, version control, and cybersecurity compliance for automation networks.
- Support optimization of process control loops to enhance production stability and energy efficiency.
- Coordinate with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure protection of automation systems from unauthorized access.
- Participate in project planning, cost estimation, and execution related to instrumentation and automation scopes.
- Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of new control systems and field instruments.
- Conduct factory and site acceptance tests (FAT/SAT) for control and safety systems.
- Ensure all deliverables meet WJO’s design basis, specifications, and safety standards.
- Ensure all work complies with WJO HSE policies, IECEx/ATEX requirements, and relevant API/ISA standards.
- Verify proper implementation of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and maintain SIL verification reports.
- Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and risk assessment studies.
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews by internal and external authorities
Desired Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years of experience in instrumentation and automation engineering within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or refinery sector.
- In-depth knowledge of field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level), control valves, analyzers, and communication protocols (HART, Modbus, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus).
- Hands-on experience with DCS/PLC systems (e.g., Honeywell, Emerson DeltaV, Yokogawa, ABB, Siemens, or Allen-Bradley).
- Working knowledge of SIS, ESD, and F&G systems maintenance.
- Familiarity with ISA, IEC 61511, API 551–556, and NFPA standards.
