Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

· Setting up & operating conventional horizontal lathes, as well as recognizing and eliminating malfunctions

· Machining of metallic and non-metallic components according to drawings

· Deburring of component contours, if necessary

· Checking dimensions based on drawings

Maintenance and care of the machines

  • Precisely operate horizontal turning machines to produce components according to technical drawings and specifications, ensuring tight tolerances.
  • Perform setup procedures, including tool changes, work holding adjustments, and initial part verification, to optimize machining processes.
  • Monitor machine operations continuously, making necessary adjustments to cutting parameters, feed rates, and coolant flow to maintain quality.
  • Conduct first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM models to understand machining requirements and ensure accurate part production.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety regulations and promoting a safe working environment.
  • Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and perform basic maintenance, reporting more complex issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Select and apply appropriate cutting tools and inserts based on material type, machining operations, and desired surface finish.
  • Document all work performed, including inspection results, material usage, and any deviations from the original specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to optimize machining processes and improve production efficiency.

Requirements for the employee

Experience in conventional turning

· Technical understanding

  • Possesses a high school diploma or equivalent, with a strong foundation in mathematics and mechanical principles.
  • Demonstrates a minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a Conventional Cutting Machine Operator, specializing in horizontal turning.
  • Holds a recognized apprenticeship or vocational training certificate in machining or a related field; further certifications are a plus.
  • Exhibits a solid understanding of machining processes, including turning, facing, threading, and boring, and the associated tooling.
  • Displays proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications with ease.
  • Shows fluency in English or the primary language of the workplace, with the ability to understand and follow instructions precisely.
  • Demonstrates excellent technical skills, including the ability to measure with precision and use measuring instruments accurately.

· Safety orientation and conscientiousness

· Flexibility and willingness to work in shifts

· Independent working style, quality awareness, ability to work in a team

· Safe handling of measuring and testing equipment

· Authorization to operate overhead cranes and column-mounted slewing cranes
