Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Role:

  • The role holder is responsible for all core banking platforms sourcing, design, testing, documentation and implementation and maintenance under the groups operating standards.
  • The role holder is responsible facilitating user training and support where appropriateand ensure operation of these systems are to its potential and is optimal.
  • The role may require the root cause analysis and problem solving of production issues on systems in scope.
  • Assist core banking lead & heads in the formulation of departmental plans and contribute to the overall delivery of the team.
  • The role detailed below spans the Group and all its subsidies both on-shore in Bahrain and off-shore and may vary depending on the portfolio of applications covered by the role and their presence in the various entities of the Group.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support core banking applications by analyzing user requirements, sourcing prototypes if appropriate and arranging testing the application to suite the specified requirements.
  • Facilitate the required training to users prior to launching any new or upgraded core banking applications to ensure they are operated to their proper and optimal use.
  • Document procedures for utilizing / implementing core banking systems and ensure that usersare aware of these procedures and follow their prescribed use.
  • Resolve application problems on core platforms, provide technical support, recommendapplication improvements, and consult with the users for enhancing the current core banking
  • applications.
  • Assist Project Managers in formulating project objectives and systems requirements; prepare project plans and schedules; discuss findings with user department to ensure that requirement
  • gathering is complete and in accordance with project objectives.
  • Assist in the implementation of core banking systems, work with outside consultants in the development and installation of systems to meet users' requirements, support testing and
  • acceptance of the system into the production environment.
  • Follow up progress of project work in hand, assist lead and head of core banking in preparation of progress reports for management information and highlight any problems in respect of delays
  • in schedules.
  • Ensure full and complete adherence to application standards and security framework adopted by the banks in sourcing and implementing core banking solutions.
  • Deliver quality core banking products & clear documentation in respect of solutions implemented.
  • Adopt and adhere to effective and collaborative work practices in line with the group policies and procedures.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer science , Management information Systems or related major field of study is required.
  • Certification or other training on software related areas is preferred.

Years & Nature of Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of practical experience in a bank in the same or similar function.
  • Experience in core banking platforms preferred.
  • Software applications support experience in the financial sector is preferred.
  • Technical skills in application environments and middleware will be added advantage.
  • Knowledge in programming, in addition to database scripting on Sybase/MySQL preferred.
