Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Navigate assigned routes efficiently, utilizing GPS and real-time traffic updates to ensure timely deliveries, optimizing for speed and safety.
- Handle packages with utmost care, ensuring they are protected from damage during transit, adhering to specific handling instructions for fragile items.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with clients, representing the company positively and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Manage delivery logs and paperwork accurately, documenting all deliveries, pickups, and any discrepancies, ensuring meticulous record-keeping.
- Conduct vehicle inspections before each shift, reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs immediately to guarantee vehicle safety and reliability.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws and company safety protocols, prioritizing safety and responsible driving at all times, minimizing risks.
- Coordinate with dispatchers to receive delivery assignments and updates, maintaining constant communication to ensure seamless operations and adjustments.
- Adapt to changing delivery schedules and unexpected delays, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills to meet deadlines effectively.
- Secure packages during transit to prevent theft or loss, employing secure storage methods and reporting any security breaches immediately.
- Operate and maintain delivery equipment such as scanners and handheld devices, ensuring they function correctly and are used efficiently.
Desired Candidate Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent is required, providing a foundational level of education for the role.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record is a non-negotiable requirement, demonstrating safe driving habits.
- Prior experience in a delivery or courier role is preferred, showcasing familiarity with delivery procedures and logistics.
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar role is an advantage, indicating practical experience and industry knowledge.
- A strong understanding of local geography and route navigation is essential, enabling efficient and timely deliveries.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial for interacting with clients and colleagues effectively.
- Proficiency in using GPS devices and delivery software is necessary, ensuring efficient route planning and tracking.
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 pounds, demonstrating the physical capability to handle deliveries.
