Fortes Education has been a leading education provider in the UAE for over four decades with premium international schools and nurseries that have experienced outstanding success and growth. Our schools offer the most innovative and character-building education in the entire Middle East region.
Our core ethos and philosophy of education is Positive Education (PosEd). Through PosEd, our schools foster active engagement in learning, celebrating character strengths and accomplishments. We encourage children to cultivate fulfilling relationships with others and seek meaning and purpose in their own lives. We enable children to become happy learners and develop into innovative thinkers, confident young adults, and life-long learners. Our students develop resilience, a growth mindset and deep character strengths that allow them to flourish in an ever-changing world.
About you:
We are seeking to appoint a passionate and motivated Cover Supervisor who will provide essential support across the school by covering a variety of classes during periods of absence of the designated teacher. Our successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining a positive environment for effective learning, through the application of the systems and structures developed by the school. This role will likely suit you if you have previous experience in a similar role, providing cover within an educational establishment. Cover work will be supplied wherever possible for you to use as a basis for the lessons, and we will also determine your subject specialisms with you as a preference. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for this post as our successful candidates need to demonstrate that they can build a good rapport with staff and students alike.
We are looking for certain qualities:
- Educated to degree level would be advantageous
- Knowledge of strategies to recognise and reward efforts and achievements towards self-reliance that are appropriate to the age and development stage of the students.
- Basic knowledge of SEN and other learning barriers
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- Relevant experience in successfully supervising groups of children aged 11-16
- Previous experience in a school or comparable large organisation
- Understanding of a secondary school environment
- Ability to provide classroom cover within agreed parameters in the absence of the class teacher.
- Ability to consistently and effectively implement agreed behaviour management strategies
- Ability to use language and other communication skills that students can understand and relate to
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students and empathise with their needs.
- Ability to demonstrate active listening skills.
- Ability to provide levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to students needs, encouraging the students to stay on task.
- Ability to monitor the students response to the learning activities and, where appropriate, modify/adapt activities agreed with the teacher to achieve the intended learning outcomes.
