Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Daily Inspection & Reporting
- Monitor and record all welding activities on a daily basis.
- Conduct routine inspections in fabrication areas, pipe racks, vessel installation zones, and field welding locations.
- Verify that welding activities follow approved procedures and are performed by qualified welders.
- Verify the contractor s daily welding reports and associated databases
- Review weekly trends of weld acceptance / rejection.
- Provide daily update and weekly reporting directly to the CPF2 Site QC Superintendent, covering: inspection progress and key findings, non-conformities and recurring defects, critical issues requiring escalation or arbitration, status of corrective actions, quality trends and contractor performance indicators.
- Contribute actively to daily/weekly QC coordination meetings and ensure the QC Superintendent receives all relevant data for consolidated site reporting.
- Maintain up-to-date records, ITP follow-up, NCR/CAR tracking, and Mechanical Completion documentation enabling full visibility for the QC Superintendent.
Welding & Fabrication Inspection PVV Scope
Welding Activities
- Verify material identification and traceability ensuring compliance with project specificationsand MTC requirements.
- Verify joint preparation, bevels, fit-up, alignment, and cleanliness before welding.
- Ensure compliance with approved WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications (WPQ).
- Monitor welding parameters, heat input, pre-heat, interpass temperature, and cooling.
- Verify consumables storage, handling, baking, and traceability.
- Verify weather protection arrangements during field welding.
- Check shielding gas selection and purge practices for SS/DSS.
- Inspect and verify distortion control practices implemented by contractor.
- Verify flange rotation, bolt hole alignment, and nozzle orientation
- Review PWHT procedures, thermocouple placement, and heat charts.
- Inspect weld appearance, bead profile, and dimensional tolerances.
- Validate weld numbering, weld mapping, and traceability records.
- Ensure weld repairs follow approved repair procedures and are properly documented
PVV Equipment Covered
- Process piping (CS, LTCS, SS, DSS, SDSS, Alloy, CRA)
- Pressure vessels (nozzles, skirts, attachments, supports)
- Valves (pup pieces, welded connections, orientation welds)
- Static equipment requiring welded connections
- Vendor packaged skids and vessels including associated welded piping and supports.
- Verify welded structural interfaces connected to PVV systems
Interfaces With NDT
- Ensuring NDT requirements are correctly identified in ITPs and WPS.
- Verifying welds are properly prepared for NDT (cleaning, access, marking).
- Ensuring repairs requested by NDT are executed correctly.
- Reviewing NDT reports for completeness and compliance.
Interfaces With QC Piping
- Ensure weld joints are correctly identified and belong to the proper line/system before welding.
- Align with QC Piping on fit-up release, ITP hold/witness points, and readiness for welding.
- Provide QC Piping with weld traceability information (weld numbers, WPS, welder IDs).
- Support QC Piping during system walkdowns for weld-related verifications.
- Deliver welding documentation required for piping test packs and Mechanical Completion dossiers.
- Communicate welding issues that may impact piping installation sequence or system readiness.
- Verify weld-related punch items are addressed before required turnover and confirm welding readiness prior to hydrotest.
Documentation & Compliance
- Review and comment on welding procedures (WPS), PQR, and welder qualifications.
- Ensure proper implementation of approved drawings, welding plans, and ITPs.
- Verify welding records, consumable certificates, and traceability documentation.
- Issue Quality Records, NCRs, and CARs when required.
- Maintain accurate welding documentation for Mechanical Completion and MDR preparation.
Non-Conformities & Corrective Actions
- Identify and report welding nonconformities or deviations.
- Ensure corrective actions and weld repairs are implemented and verified.
- Monitor recurrence of weld defects, advice preventive actions and participate in root cause analysis for welding issues.
- Immediately escalate critical anomalies to the QC Superintendent.
Coordination & Interface
- Participate in daily/weekly QC and construction coordination meetings.
- Interface with QC Piping, QC Mechanical, QC NDT, Engineering, and Contractor welding teams.
- Support technical clarifications related to welding and metallurgy.
- Participate in audits (Construction, HSE, QC) and site visits.
- Ensure confidentiality of all documentation under responsibility.

Desired Candidate Profile
Professional experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Welding QC on major Oil & Gas EPC projects.
- Strong experience with piping, pressure vessels, and valves welding.
- Experience on CPF, refinery, or large industrial facilities strongly preferred.
Technical competencies:
- Solid knowledge of welding processes, metallurgy, and fabrication techniques.
- Strong understanding of ASME IX, ASME B31.3, API standards.
- Ability to interpret isometrics, welding drawings, WPS/PQR/WPQ documentation.
- Knowledge of weld repair techniques and metallurgical constraints.
- Understanding of NCR, deviation, and concession processes.
- Familiarity with digital QC systems (Aconex, SharePoint, SmartPlant, etc.) is a plus.
Behavioral competencies:
- Exemplary behavior regarding Company Code of Conduct and HSSE rules. Ensure that all HSSE training are completed and HSE rules implemented within his area of responsability
- Ability to represent the Company in discussions and meetings with Vendors, Contractors, and Subcontractors
