Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Strategic:

  • Develop and implement credit risk assessment frameworks to ensure sound lending decisions.
  • Analyze market trends, industry risks, and macroeconomic factors to assess their impact on borrowers creditworthiness.
  • Assist in defining and refining the bank s credit risk policies, limits, and tolerance levels.
  • Provide insights to senior management on portfolio risk exposure, concentration risks, and emerging threats.
  • Support the adoption of advanced credit risk models and scoring techniques to enhance risk assessment accuracy.

Operational:

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis of borrowers, including balance sheet evaluation, cash flow projections, and debt service coverage ratios.
  • Assess the creditworthiness of individuals, SMEs, and corporate clients to determine their ability to meet financial obligations.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit risk reports and make recommendations on loan approvals, modifications, or rejections.
  • Monitor existing credit portfolios to identify early warning signals of potential defaults or deteriorating credit conditions.
  • Work closely with relationship managers and credit teams to structure loan proposals in line with the bank s risk appetite.
  • Utilize credit scoring models, stress testing, and sensitivity analysis to evaluate potential risks.
  • Ensure timely updates of credit risk dashboards and risk analytics reports for management review.

Compliance:

  • Ensure all credit risk assessments comply with the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) regulations, Basel guidelines, and internal risk policies.
  • Maintain proper documentation of credit assessments, approvals, and risk mitigation strategies for audit and regulatory review.
  • Conduct regular credit risk stress tests and scenario analysis in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and KYC (Know Your Customer) guidelines in all credit assessments.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure transparency and accuracy in risk reporting.
