Job Description

A Database Administrator (DBA) is a crucial role in any organization that relies on data-driven decision-making. This position involves managing and maintaining an organization's databases, ensuring data security, and optimizing database performance. The DBA is responsible for ensuring databases are always available to relevant stakeholders while maintaining the integrity and performance of the database systems. As the guardian of corporate data, the DBA plays a key role in the coordination and implementation of data security measures to protect the organization against data breaches and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, be detail-oriented, and have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues efficiently.


Responsibilities
  • Design and implement database systems that meet the organizational needs and objectives.
  • Maintain data integrity and ensure the availability of database systems at all times.
  • Monitor database performance and tackle issues using troubleshooting techniques.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure data security and compliance.
  • Conduct regular database backups and recovery operations to protect data assets.
  • Optimize database queries for efficiency, speed, and performance improvements.
  • Collaborate with IT staff to integrate databases better with other applications.
  • Implement disaster recovery protocols and maintain storage and archiving procedures.
  • Ensure that database configurations adhere to industry best practices and standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to IT professionals, users, and managers.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest database technologies and industry trends.
  • Prepare documentation of database designs, configurations, and operations workflows.

Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role for at least 3 years.
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems like SQL, Oracle, or NoSQL.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with database security, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation with languages like Python or Shell scripting.
  • Outstanding communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
