Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking a Deal Quality Specialist to join Strategy & Business Development Division (SBDD) within the Gas Venture Department.
SBDD is responsible for sourcing and developing international gas value chain (upstream, liquefaction, marketing, regasification) investment opportunities. The Division is also responsible for coordinating the execution of these investment opportunities and managing investments post transaction, with an objective of creating a viable, material integrated global gas business by 2035.
Your primary role, as part on the economics modeling team, is to support the commercial business development team who develops the supply side of the LNG business and will lead the economic evaluation of LNG projects in terms of plant investment and offtake trading for investment decision making. Additionally, you will be required to engage with support functions such as Treasury, Group Finance and Strategy & Market Analysis as part of the model sign-off and due diligence process.
Key Responsibilities
- Screen upstream gas and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) investment opportunities globally.
- Identify project opportunities available.
- Screen opportunities coming from internal screening, i.e., monitoring of the global market, reserves, possible expansions of existing projects, and Screen opportunities coming from external proposals through communication with gas & LNG players.
- Characterize the opportunities and prioritize them through set of defined criteria (e.g., Upstream potential, project maturity, quality of potential partners, project economics and local policies, identification of key areas pending to take Final Investment Decision (FID).
- Handle complex deal structures, with the development and interpretation of data used in a highly technical and confidential analysis platform.
- Assess pre-FID projects and coordinate M&A task force.
- Coordinate M&A task force to collect inputs from different units (Upstream, Gas Ventures Department Origination, Legal to support assessment of pre-FID projects).
- Conduct negotiations with partners to finalize investment terms, and execute transactions.
- Manage technical, financial, commercial, environmental and legal due diligences.
- Manage external advisors on the assessment process.
- Identify alternative investments for Gas Ventures Department (GVD).
- Explore and assess acquisition of stake in existing or FID projects.
- Support decision making at management level with reports on specific opportunities.
- Coordinate communication on LNG & gas opportunities across the organization.
- Provide Market Intelligence with inputs on focus areas and request ad-hoc analyses required for specific project assessments.
- Provide all necessary inputs for contract negotiations and management for specific projects, at the same time involving Origination in M&A task force.
Desired Candidate Profile
You will hold a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Engineering from a recognized and approved program. MBA or other advanced Post Graduate degree in MPA or a business-related degree is preferred .
You must have a minimum of 15 years of experience with 10 years of relevant M&A and business development, transactions, Gas & LNG work experience, preferably in a major petrochemical or energy industry corporation.
You will be able to demonstrate leadership and management experience.
You will have a strong ability to establish and maintain networks, both within and across company organizations is Necessary.
Capability to work effectively within a matrix organization and with multi-disciplinary teams is also preferred.
