Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Dean will provide visionary leadership for the College, guiding it toward achieving its academic and research objectives while contributing to HBKU s strategic plan and focus areas. The successful candidate will also drive CPP initiatives to support and contribute to effective policy development towards implementing the Qatar National Vision 2030, which focuses on economic development, human development, social development, and environmental development. The key responsibilities of the Dean are to:

  • Develop and implement the College s strategic vision and goals, ensuring alignment with HBKU s overarching strategic plan and focus areas.
  • Oversee and enhance the College s academic programs to meet the evolving needs of students and society.
  • Promote and support innovative research initiatives and interdisciplinary collaboration across HBKU and within Qatar Foundation's Education City.
  • Recruit, support, and retain a diverse and high-caliber faculty.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., alumni, government bodies, collaborating institutions, and industry partners).
  • Lead on the development of a PhD program with the support of other senior faculty members.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in Public Policy or Public Administration or a related field.
  • Have earned the rank of Full Professor at an established, well-recognized university.
  • Proven experience in academic leadership, including successful administration, program development, and strategic planning.
  • A strong record of policy leadership, scholarly research and publications.
  • Able to lead in addressing local, regional, and global challenges.
  • A track record of engaging and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the region is desirable, Arabic language is an asset.
