DENTAL ASSISTANT

Provide assistance to dentists and dental hygienists during diagnostic operative or preventive procedures including all phases of clinical treatments

Maintain sterile equipment clean the operatory area and perform other tasks of increasing complexity as experience is gained

Performs a range of Xray procedures inside the operatory

Perform more complex tasks such as preparing and mixing materials for patient treatment This includes preparing anesthetic syringes with the appropriate needle and carpule rubber dam equipment impression materials alginate hydrocolloid rubber base periodontal dressings cements zinc oxide zinc phosphate calcium hydroxide and restorative materials amalgam composite resins

Develop new skills throughinservice training and chairside experience under the supervision of a Dentist OnJob Trainer and Senior Dental Assistant

Work directly under the supervision of the Dentist or with guidance from the Senior Dental Assistant

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor Degree in Dental Assisting

Professional Certifications Required

SCFHS Certification as applicable

Years of Experience

Minimum 3 years of experience
