Dental X-Ray Technician Job Description

A Dental X-Ray Technician is responsible for taking high-quality dental radiographs to assist dentists in diagnosing and treating oral health conditions while ensuring patient safety and radiation protection standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for dental X-ray procedures and explain the process clearly.
• Operate dental radiographic equipment to capture accurate images.
• Take intraoral and extraoral dental X-rays as prescribed by the dentist.
• Ensure proper patient positioning for clear and diagnostic-quality images.
• Follow radiation safety and infection control protocols at all times.
• Use protective equipment such as lead aprons and thyroid collars.
• Process, label, and maintain dental radiographic images and records.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and reports.
• Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of X-ray equipment.
• Assist dentists during diagnostic and treatment procedures when required.
• Monitor and report any equipment malfunction or safety concerns.
• Maintain inventory of radiographic supplies and materials.
• Follow clinic, hospital, and regulatory guidelines related to radiology services.

Qualification Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Radiology, Dental Radiography, or related field

• Relevant clinical or dental clinic experience preferred
