Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Main Tasks & Accountabilities

Create and implement depot management plan to support supply chain strategy

Estimate infrastructural requirement with respect to depot operations

Estimate other resource requirements

Depots and FGS preparation planning and managing operations

Determine storage requirements

Plan future capacity requirements

Managing inventory levels

Stock control and movements

Legal considerations

Manage overall depots and FGS operations

Have a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how the depot and FGS contributes to these

Delivering and fulfilling objectives and directions from the operation's headquarters

Implementing and improving KPIs for depot and FGS performance

Managing budgets

Maintaining statistical and financial records

Using depot and FGS space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently, making sure quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met

Ensuring good warehousing practices and resource optimization labor, equipment, facilities etc.

Issuing organizational specific depot management policy and procedures guideline

Stock control

Managing in-bound and out-bound movements of stock

Managing and replenish inventory and stock levels for customers

Keeping stock control systems up to date and make sure inventories are accurate

Planning coordinating and monitoring the receipt, order and dispatch of goods

Coordinating and managing the systems (including mechanical, IT systems etc)

Maintenance activities

Overseeing maintenance and operation of warehouse management systems

Overseeing planned maintenance of depots FGS, vehicles, machinery and equipment

HACCP/other compliances

Ensuring hygiene standards are maintained at the depot and products do not get spoilt due to failure to maintain prescribed conditions

Ensuring that all local environmental requirements are duly adhered to

Knowledge of and adherence to regional council compliance requirements

Health and Safety

Understand and ensure meeting the obligations of health and safety requirements of employment legislation.

Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation for example, ensuring that stock such as chemicals and food are stored safely

Issue and ensure adherence to policy and procedures regarding warehouse management and help adopt best practices regarding workmen safety and health

Identify and contain/minimize product related health hazards reported by the consumer(s) / identified internally.

Maintain an event register for supply and subsequent recall of all defective products.

Team Building Planning, acquisition and mentoring

Define knowledge/skillsets required

Effective communication within and outside the team

Create a supportive environment for the team members

Contribute to the team, disseminate important information

Motivate, organize and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met;

Training staff and monitoring their performance and progress

Help to create a fun, supportive work environment

People management and reporting responsibilities

Liaison with fleet operations and sales and marketing teams for efficient running of depot.

Participate in management and supervisory meetings as and when required.

Produce end of month departmental report, on time, and as required by the management.

Ensure accurate and up to date, daily, weekly, monthly records as required by the management.

Ensure tasks are understood by the team members, and performed responsibly and diligently

Help others in the team if needed; Support relief staff in their duties

Desired Candidate Profile

Education Level Minimum Requirement

Bachelor s Degree in Business or Transportation/Logistics Management

Professional Qualifications

Certification in supply chain preferred

Have a valid driver s license

Work Experience

Overall experience of 10 years or more in managing a medium to large warehouse/depot operation preferably within the FMCG environment. Experience in dairy products will be preferred.

Strong understanding of the Middle East markets

Job Specific Skills

Intimate knowledge of key cost drivers

Experience with WMS essential.

Prior project management experience required

Working knowledge of order management, demand / supply planning, inventory control, logistics and warehousing

Ability to lead and direct strategic planning for warehouse and customer services

Expertise in directing, managing and coordinating warehouse, transportation and customer service activities.

Strong collaboration skills, across the business, at various levels of management

Financial awareness to understand and interpret numbers; Excellent written & verbal communication / presentation skills

Team player with excellent motivational skills

Must be alert, strive for accuracy, and have ability to exercise independent thinking and judgment, be a self- motivator, and attention to detail
