Position Overview
Mace is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team on a large-scale luxury mixed-use development in Riyadh and Umluj, Saudi Arabia. This role involves managing a multidisciplinary design team, leading design strategy, and ensuring compliance with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards. You will act as the primary point of contact for client and consultant design matters, driving successful project outcomes and continuous process improvements.

What You ll Do

* Lead a design management team of up to 12 professionals, providing direction and oversight.
* Deliver design management strategies to meet key performance indicators and strategic outcomes.
* Serve as the main liaison for client and consultant design-related issues, ensuring strong relationships and timely resolutions.
* Oversee consultant progress, ensuring design deliverables align with procurement schedules and master plans.
* Approve consultant appointments and review progress payments as required by contract.
* Develop and execute design strategies, budgets, and timelines to ensure project milestones are achieved.
* Manage stakeholder relationships, negotiate effectively, and support commercial teams in scope development for procurement.
* Conduct regular design progress reviews and reporting for client stakeholders.
* Assess and mitigate consultant claims, providing support to commercial teams to protect client interests.
* Drive process improvements and implement lessons learned to achieve efficiency and quality goals.
* Lead training initiatives to enhance design management capabilities within the team.
* Champion sustainability objectives, ensuring net-zero carbon transition targets are integrated into design processes.

Ideal Profile

* Bachelor s degree in architecture, engineering, or related discipline.
* Membership in a relevant professional body (RIBA, CIOB, or equivalent).
* Extensive experience managing design for high-value luxury developments within the Middle East.
* Strong background in project management consultancy and stakeholder engagement.
* Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex design workflows.
* Eligibility for Saudi Arabia visa and client approval requirements.
