Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Role Overview: Lead comprehensive design coordination and management for large-scale mixed-use development projects, serving as the primary interface between international consultants, local architects, and stakeholders throughout all design phases from schematic through construction documentation.
Responsibilities:
Design Coordination Leadership: Manage and coordinate design submissions between International and local Consultants , Architect of record , and any other stakeholder , clients through all design stages from 100% Schematic to IFC, ensuring full integration and compliance with project objectives
Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on design objectives, scope, and project requirements.
Multi-Disciplinary Integration: Ensure comprehensive coordination across architectural, structural, MEP, and landscape disciplines while managing complex tie-ins to existing building systems serving fully operational international company tenants
Design Review Management: Conduct detailed design reviews at each submission stage, prepare comprehensive commented reports, and maintain design review logs tracking all comments, revisions, and approvals throughout the design process
Authority Coordination: Lead design-related interactions with authorities (NUCA, Municipality, Civil Defense, etc..) for permit approvals, attending meetings and monitoring approval processes with weekly status reporting
Value Engineering Oversight: Collaborate with Cost Consultant and contractor to conduct system-by-system value engineering exercises, ensuring design-to-budget compliance while maintaining project quality standards
Risk Mitigation: Identify and document design-related risks and uncertainties, implementing contingency plans and maintaining risk registers with mitigation strategies
Stakeholder Communication: Chair design coordination meetings, prepare detailed minutes, and ensure timely distribution to all project stakeholders including Employer, contractors, and consultant teams
Quality Assurance: Ensure all design documentation meets established design criteria, project budget constraints, and enables cost-effective construction techniques while minimizing change orders
Documentation Control: Maintain comprehensive design documentation systems, ensuring proper version control and accessibility for all project team members
Contractor Design Integration: Validate contractor design feedback and ensure proper integration of constructability comments into design submissions throughout all design stages
Master Schedule Compliance: Monitor design deliverable schedules against master programme, identifying critical path impacts and implementing recovery measures when required
Feasibility studies Manage feasibility studies for new projects, research market trends and business opportunities, and compile information for the management
Procurement & Contracts Management: Manage/assist in procurement activities, including prequalification, tendering, and evaluation. Actively lead or participate in contract management, scope management, and risk mitigation.
Material & Equipment Tracking: Oversee the ordering and delivery status of materials and equipment, ensuring timely and efficient project execution.
Pre- and Post-Contract Management: Lead pre-contract scope reviews, including technical specification evaluations, BOQ sections, handling tender queries, and managing the prequalification process (PQQ). Contribute to value engineering at each design stage. For post-contract management, handle construction progress tracking, contract administration, and on-site evaluations with the project team.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
- Master's degree preferred
- PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years in design management for large-scale mixed-use developments
- Proven experience with retail/F&B/office transformation projects
- Experience with Egyptian building codes and authority approval processes
- Track record managing multiple consultant coordination
- Experience with operational building renovations (zero-disruption requirements)
Technical Skills:
- Expert knowledge of design coordination methodologies
- Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM platforms)
- Strong understanding of MEP systems integration
- Knowledge of construction methodologies and value engineering principles
- Familiarity with Egyptian codes (Building Code, Fire Code, Civil Defense requirements)

- Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel, PowerPoint)
