Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Downe House Muscat is seeking a dynamic and committed Teacher of Design & Technology to inspire students across a broad curriculum including Product Design, Textiles, Food Technology, and other creative media. The successful candidate will ensure students make excellent progress while experiencing Design & Technology as enjoyable, engaging, and appropriately challenging. Flexibility and confidence across multiple specialisms are essential, with expertise in Food Technology and/or Textiles being an advantage.

Teaching and Learning
- Teach a broad, balanced, and relevant Design & Technology curriculum.
- Plan and deliver creative lessons meeting the needs of all students, including EAL learners.
- Independently design and implement curriculum materials for a developing department.
- Set ambitious learning goals and use assessments rigorously to track progress.
- Participate fully in co-curricular programmes while upholding professional teaching standards.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and purposeful learning environment.
- Make effective use of teaching assistants.
- Foster strong home-school partnerships.
- Attend meetings, professional development, and school events.
Safeguarding
- Comply with all safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- Bachelor s Degree in a relevant subject (E)
- Postgraduate Certificate of Education or equivalent (E)
- Qualified Teacher Status (E)
- Further postgraduate study (D)
Skills & Experience
- Minimum three years relevant teaching experience (E)
- High levels of subject knowledge (E)
- Proven track record of high-quality teaching (E)
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum for England (E)
- Experience teaching IGCSE and A Level (E)
- Experience working with EAL students (E)
- Understanding of UK independent school environment (D)
- Knowledge of recent educational developments (E)
