Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed electrical and instrumentation design packages, including schematics, loop diagrams, and panel layouts, ensuring adherence to oil and gas standards and project specifications.
  • Perform calculations for cable sizing, conduit fill, and voltage drop, optimizing system performance and safety.
  • Create and review Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring accuracy and cost-effectiveness for procurement.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other designers to integrate electrical and instrumentation systems with other disciplines.
  • Conduct site surveys and inspections to gather data and verify designs, ensuring designs align with the physical environment.
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and startup phases, addressing field issues and design clarifications.
  • Stay current with the latest industry codes, standards, and technologies, continuously improving design expertise.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications for equipment and materials, ensuring quality and performance.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and procedures.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Possesses a Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in engineering principles.
  • Holds relevant certifications such as PE (Professional Engineer) or EIT (Engineer-in-Training), showcasing a commitment to professional development.
  • Demonstrates 5+ years of experience in electrical and instrumentation design within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry, indicating relevant industry knowledge.
  • Exhibits proficiency in using design software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar, highlighting the ability to create and modify designs effectively.
  • Shows a strong understanding of international codes and standards such as IEC, NEC, and ISA, ensuring designs meet regulatory requirements.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues, leading to effective solutions.
  • Possesses the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, showcasing organizational skills.
  • Exhibits a proactive approach to learning and staying updated with industry trends and technological advancements, reflecting a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Demonstrates a keen attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality designs, ensuring project success.
