Job Description

A Desktop Support Technician plays a critical role in the IT department by providing essential technical support and assistance to end-users within an organization. This position involves addressing hardware and software issues, maintaining IT systems, and ensuring seamless operation for all users. The ideal candidate should possess strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a keen understanding of various operating systems and IT equipment. The role often requires working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple technical issues simultaneously while maintaining a high level of customer service. A Desktop Support Technician must be adept at diagnosing problems, implementing effective solutions, and collaborating with other IT professionals to enhance user productivity and satisfaction.


Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Install, configure, and update desktop operating systems and software applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to computers and peripherals.
  • Maintain and repair various IT equipment including printers, laptops, and desktops.
  • Ensure timely response to user inquiries and technical support tickets.
  • Create and update documentation related to technical support procedures and solutions.
  • Assist in setting up and deploying new computer systems and hardware components.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and upgrades of IT systems to optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with network administrators to ensure network connectivity and performance.
  • Provide support for remote access and VPN configuration for users.
  • Offer training and guidance to users on effective utilization of IT resources.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of IT equipment and software licenses.

Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Desktop Support Technician or similar technical support role.
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
  • Effective communication skills to assist users of varying technical expertise.
  • Familiarity with desktop and network security protocols and best practices.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize multiple technical tasks.
  • Relevant certification or degree in computer science or related field preferred.
