Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Verification & Inspection

-Inspect packages to confirm they have been packed properly by the shipper and meet UN specification standards.

-Verify that the inner and outer packaging, overpack use, closures, and cushioning comply with IATA DGR requirements.

-Check that package condition is sound and suitable for air transport.

-Ensure all operator and state variations are adhered to.

2. Labelling & Marking

-Apply or verify the correct DG hazard labels, handling labels, orientation arrows, and UN numbers on packages.

-Confirm that markings and labels are durable, legible, and in correct size and position as per IATA standards. -Ensure overpacks are marked with “OVERPACK” and relevant UN numbers, if applicable.

-Remove or cover any irrelevant or outdated labels from reused packages.

3. Documentation

-Prepare and verify Dangerous Goods Declarations (DGD) ensuring all details (UN number, Proper Shipping Name, Class, Packing Group, quantity, etc.) are accurate.

-Cross-check the MSDS for each material and ensure data consistency.

-Ensure all shipment documents are complete, signed, and attached before cargo acceptance.

-Maintain DG documentation logs and compliance checklists for recordkeeping and audits.

4. Coordination & Support

-Coordinate with airlines, freight forwarders, warehouse teams, and DG packers to resolve discrepancies or missing details.

-Support the DG Supervisor during acceptance checks and inspection visits.

-Communicate promptly any non-compliance or safety concerns to management.

5. Safety & Compliance

-Follow PPE and site-specific HSE requirements at all times.

-Immediately report any leakage, damage, or irregular packaging.

-Ensure no DG shipment proceeds without proper marking, labelling, and documentation.

-Stay updated with current IATA DGR amendments and operator bulletins.

Desired Candidate Profile

Working knowledge of IATA DGR (Dangerous Goods Regulations).

Prior experience in DG documentation, labelling, or cargo acceptance.

Valid IATA DG Certificate (preferred).

Strong attention to detail, safety-first attitude, and integrity.

Good communication in English (Arabic an advantage).
