To lead and drive end-to-end project costing, budgeting, financial control, and commercial governance for large aluminium smelter projects (including potlines, carbon plant, CPP, utilities), ensuring financial discipline, cost optimization, and alignment with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Cost Leadership

• Develop overall cost strategy and framework for aluminium smelter projects (greenfield/brownfield).
• Define cost control policies, procedures, and governance models.
• Lead CAPEX planning for multi-billion-dollar projects.

2. Estimation & Budgeting

• Oversee conceptual, FEED, and detailed cost estimates.
• Approve cost baseline, BOQs, and cost breakdown structures (CBS).
• Benchmark costs with global smelter projects and industry standards.

3. Cost Control & Monitoring

• Establish robust project cost control systems.
• Monitor budget vs actuals, commitments, and forecasts.
• Identify deviations and drive corrective and preventive actions.

4. Commercial & Contract Management

• Provide strategic inputs in tendering, bid evaluation, and contract negotiations.
• Review variation orders, claims, and contractual risks.
• Ensure cost optimization across EPC packages (LSTK/EPCM models).

5. Financial Planning & Reporting

• Lead cash flow forecasting, cost reporting, and financial MIS.
• Present project cost performance to CXOs and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with audit, governance, and internal controls.

6. Value Engineering & Risk Management

• Drive value engineering initiatives to reduce CAPEX/OPEX.
• Identify cost risks, contingencies, and mitigation plans.

7. Stakeholder & Team Leadership

• Lead a multi-disciplinary costing & commercial team.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, finance, and project teams.
• Interface with EPC contractors, consultants, and global technology providers.
