Purpose of the Job
Deliver robust Database infrastructure and provide best in class solution to operate, maintain, support and to achieve highest business uptime.
Education & Experience
Experience/Qualifications Needed:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent with minimum 4 years experience
A minimum of 2 years experience in Systems Engineering, installation, deployment, configuration, operations and maintenance.
Experience in Database administration for Oracle, MSSQL and Exadata technology
Experience in Mutitenant, Data Guard, RAC, OEM, SQL Cluster & Golden Gate technology.
Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, fine tuning and performance monitoring standards.
Basic understanding of Windows/Linux Operating Systems.
Experience in Oil and Gas Environment and associated applications is preferable
ITIL V3 Foundation certification is preferable
Main Responsibilities
Principal Accountabilities:
Maintains agreed service levels, operation level agreements and customer satisfaction and delivers pro-active service improvements and efficiencies through managing Database servers implementation and business continuity.
Responsible for support and maintenance of IT systems across assigned function.
Manage the process for the execution of Database systems engineering annual work plans with particular emphasis on preventive maintenance as well as the testing of disaster recovery plans.
Creates, maintains and updates technical documentation and procedures for efficient system administration
Provides support with focus on day to day incident management, change management, performance management, interruptions, and service improvements
Is responsible for end-to-end monitoring and pro-active problem management across all technical areas such as interaction of applications, servers, storage, database and network.
Contribute to and manage the process for the proactive periodic Database Infrastructure vulnerability assessment.
Provide after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies as well occasional weekend
Execute infrastructure systems engineering best practices in line with technology development, global initiatives, business needs and growth
Responsible for service delivery in compliance with organization s Information Risk Management and Compliance policy, Health and Safety and Environment guidelines and IT Service Management policy, processes and procedure for the hosting function
Challenges:
Maintaining in-depth technical skills in a rapidly changing technology area in order to relate confidently and competently with vendors, consultants and peers.
Keeping pace with rapidly changing/evolving external policies and regulations.
Aligning many interdependent systems engineering and DBA activities for delivery of seamless services to the customer.
