Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of diesel engines to identify mechanical issues, ensuring each engine operates at peak performance.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fuel system cleaning, and filter replacements to prolong engine life and efficiency.
- Diagnose engine problems using specialized diagnostic equipment, ensuring accurate and timely repairs are made based on findings.
- Rebuild and repair diesel engines, addressing issues ranging from minor repairs to complete overhauls, ensuring high-quality workmanship.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance and repair work performed, facilitating transparency and compliance with industry regulations.
- Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems, fostering a team-oriented work environment.
- Stay updated on the latest diesel engine technologies and repair techniques through continuous education and professional development.
- Utilize hand and power tools proficiently to execute repairs and replacements, emphasizing safety and precision in all tasks.
- Assist in training apprentices and less experienced mechanics, sharing knowledge and best practices to cultivate a skilled workforce.
- Participate in safety inspections and adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in diesel mechanics is preferred.
- Certification from a recognized institution, such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence), demonstrating competency in diesel engine repair.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience working with diesel engines in a commercial or industrial setting, showcasing practical know-how.
- Experience with advanced diagnostic software and tools, enabling effective problem-solving in complex engine issues.
- Proficiency in reading technical manuals and schematics, essential for accurate repairs and understanding engine systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude coupled with the ability to learn new technologies quickly, ensuring adaptability in a fast-evolving field.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients and team members regarding engine issues.
- A strong commitment to safety practices, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the workplace.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, balancing individual responsibilities with collaborative efforts.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks, including lifting heavy components and working in confined spaces.
