Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Faculty members will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of specialization, ensuring high quality delivery, current course content, and alignment with program learning outcomes. They will prepare and update course syllabi, assess student performance in a timely manner, and maintain accurate academic records.

They will provide academic advising and student support, including support for students at academic risk, and supervise independent studies, capstone projects, internships, and theses where applicable. Faculty members will also contribute to curriculum review, course design, assurance of learning, and the continuous improvement of academic programs.

In addition to teaching, faculty members are expected to conduct impactful research, publish in respected academic outlets, and engage with industry and professional communities to advance applied knowledge and innovation in the field.

They will serve as subject matter experts within the program and support the Program Chair or Coordinator in academic operations and program development. Active participation in academic governance, faculty meetings, accreditation activities, student recruitment initiatives, orientation, and registration support is expected.

Faculty members are also encouraged to engage in community outreach, professional service, and collaborations that enhance the visibility and reputation of the School and the University. They may represent CUD at conferences, academic forums, and public or industry events, while participating in professional development and institutional capacity building initiatives.

Desired Candidate Profile

Applicants must hold a PhD in Digital Business, Business Information Systems, Information Technology Management, or a closely related discipline. The degree should be awarded by a university ranked within the top 500 of the QS World University Rankings, preferably an accredited Western institution.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong record of effective teaching, research productivity, and scholarly publication in highly ranked, Scopus indexed journals. Evidence of industry engagement and applied expertise in relevant fields is also expected. Relevant professional certifications are considered an advantage.

Preference will be given to candidates with Canadian affiliation, including Canadian qualifications, teaching experience at a Canadian university, or academic and professional linkages to Canada or North America. Prior experience in a Canadian academic institution is preferred, and teaching experience in the Middle East will be an added advantage.

Experience Requirements

For appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of undergraduate teaching experience at a top 500 QS ranked university, together with experience in curriculum development and supervision of graduation projects.

For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of undergraduate and graduate teaching experience at a top 500 QS ranked university, together with experience supervising MSc and DBA students. Familiarity with AACSB accreditation standards is preferred.

The School welcomes applications from candidates with teaching and research expertise in areas such as digital business innovation, digital transformation, business analytics, management information systems, enterprise systems, IT governance, innovation strategy, emerging technologies, platform business models, fintech, AI in business, and technology enabled organizational change.

Research Expectations

Successful candidates are expected to maintain an active research agenda and produce high quality scholarly output in reputable, peer reviewed journals, preferably Q1 and Q2 Scopus indexed journals, in line with their academic rank. Research that demonstrates relevance to contemporary business challenges, digital innovation, industry application, and societal impact will be particularly valued.
