Performance Energy is seeking experienced Directional Drillers to support an onshore gas development campaign in Saudi Arabia. This long-term assignment offers an opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of conventional and unconventional wells, spanning medium-depth to deep drilling operations.
The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and technically precise wellbore placement in complex formations and extended reach drilling (ERD) environments.
This is a fantastic opportunity for skilled Directional Drillers looking to expand their expertise - particularly for those cross-trained in M/LWD (DDX) or keen to develop into this integrated drilling role through structured training.
Ideal for mid-to-senior professionals, this position offers exposure to cutting-edge drilling technology, challenging well conditions, and collaboration within a highly competent international team.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute directional drilling operations on both conventional and unconventional gas wells.
• Manage drilling profiles ranging from medium-depth (700ft-12,500ft) to deep wells exceeding 12,000ft.
• Operate across deviated, S-curve, J-curve, and ERD wells with laterals of up to 4,000ft.
• Recognise and mitigate stuck pipe and packing-off risks in clay-rich formations.
• Drive drilling efficiency through proactive optimisation in abrasive carbonate and clastic sandstone reservoirs.
• Collaborate closely with the drilling superintendent and rig crew to ensure safe, high-performance operations.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5+ years' experience as a Directional Driller in gas field development.
• DDX (Directional Driller cross-trained in M/LWD) experience preferred; candidates without this will receive training.
• Familiarity with 5G or Magnus rotary steerable systems is highly advantageous.
• Proven ability to manage complex well trajectories and challenging geological conditions.
• Strong understanding of stuck pipe prevention, hole cleaning, and wellbore stability practices.
• Experience in ERD and medium-to-deep drilling environments.
• Valid offshore/onshore safety certifications and Directional Drilling qualifications.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills in English.
