Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking a hands-on and strategic Director of Engineering to lead the technical operations of the Taghazout Bay Marriott Resort, a new resort opening in 2026 on Morocco s stunning Atlantic coast.
As part of the pre-opening team, you will be responsible for establishing and overseeing all engineering and maintenance functions, ensuring the resort opens with world-class safety, sustainability, and operational standards. You will lead the development of preventative maintenance programs, manage capital projects, and ensure compliance with local regulations and Marriott brand standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety
- Lead capital expenditure planning and execution
- Develop and manage engineering budgets and energy conservation strategies
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and brand safety and regulatory standards
- Lead emergency response planning and execution
- Supervise construction and ensure timely completion of pre-opening projects
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications:
- Technical training in HVAC-R, Electrical, or Plumbing
- High school diploma with 6 years of engineering/maintenance experience, or a 2-year degree with 4 years of experience
- Proven leadership in hotel engineering or facilities management
- Strong understanding of Moroccan building codes and regulatory requirements
- Fluency in English and French is required
- Experience in hotel pre-openings or new property launches is a strong advantage
