Roles & Responsibilities

Role

The Director of Finance oversees the financial management and performance of the hotel. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, effective budgeting, strong internal controls, and compliance with regulations. Working closely with the General Manager, ownership, and department heads, the Director of Finance provides financial insight to support strategic decisions and the long-term financial stability of the hotel, while leading and developing the finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Finance, Purchasing, and IT departments.
  • Ensure the accuracy, transparency, and compliance of the hotel s financial accounts.
  • Oversee the hotel s financial resources, cash flow, and banking relationships.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate monthly closings and ensure proper accounting records in line with applicable standards.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and supervise the preparation of tax and social security declarations.
  • Maintain effective internal controls and ensure financial procedures are followed.
  • Approve financial transactions such as purchase orders, contracts, and capital expenditures.
  • Supervise cash management and bank reconciliations.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and act as the main contact for auditors.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and Head Office on financial strategy and reporting.
  • Prepare financial reports for owners and corporate management.
  • Act as the main financial contact for the hotel owners and respond to their financial information requests.
  • Lead, train, and supervise the finance team while maintaining a positive working environment.
  • Monitor operating costs and support departments in maintaining cost efficiency without compromising service quality.
  • Support payroll control and supervise the preparation of monthly payroll.
  • Maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions.

Requirements

  • Master s degree or equivalent in finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 10 years of progressive finance experience, including leadership roles in hospitality or luxury hotel environments.
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, compliance, and hotel performance indicators.
  • Full professional proficiency in English and French for financial reporting, corporate communication, and coordination with international stakeholders.
