Roles & Responsibilities

The Director will also oversee hospitality-related campus operations and service units. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the university restaurant and weekly lunch services for faculty and staff.
  • Supervising catering services for university meetings, conferences, ceremonies, and special events.
  • Overseeing food production, menu planning, service quality, hygiene, and customer satisfaction.
  • Supervising operational staff including chefs, kitchen personnel, service staff, logistics teams, and support personnel.
  • Managing procurement processes, vendor relations, inventory, and supply chain coordination.
  • Monitoring budgets, pricing, cost control, and revenue optimization.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Improving service standards, operational efficiency, and guest experience.
  • Developing training programs for service personnel and student trainees.
  • Coordinating event logistics and hospitality support across campus.
  • Introducing innovation, sustainability, and best practices in food service and hospitality operations.

The Faculty of Business and Management (FOBM) at the University of Balamand (UOB) invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Director of Tourism and Hotel Management (THM) at its main campus in Koura. This leadership role combines academic oversight with operational management and offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic professional to shape the future of hospitality and tourism education while overseeing key service operations within FOBM and UOB.

Academic Responsibilities

The Director will lead and enhance the THM concentration within the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program. Key responsibilities include:

  • - Advising and mentoring undergraduate students pursuing the THM concentration.
  • - Recruiting, selecting and supervising THM instructors.
  • - Ensuring course innovation, and alignment with international hospitality and technological standards and trends.
  • - Coordinating course scheduling and academic planning for the THM concentration.
  • - Securing and supervising student internships locally and internationally.
  • - Building partnerships with hotels, resorts, airlines, travel agencies, tourism boards, and related organizations.
  • - Encouraging and preparing students for hospitality and tourism competitions, exhibitions, and industry events.
  • - Organizing guest lectures, workshops, seminars, field visits, and networking events.
  • - Supporting student career development, placement, and alumni engagement.
  • - Promoting experiential learning, applied projects, and entrepreneurship in tourism and hospitality.
  • - Contributing to accreditation, quality assurance, assessment, and strategic development initiatives.
