Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively monitor database health and performance, ensuring smooth and continuous operation.
  • Perform essential daily checks and operational tasks to maintain database stability and efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies to minimize downtime and data loss.
  • Expertly manage all aspects of SQL Server and Oracle databases, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching.
  • Implement and maintain database replication systems to ensure high availability and data redundancy
  • Troubleshoot database issues effectively, diagnose root causes, and implement timely solutions.
  • Develop, document, and enforce comprehensive database security policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Rigorously manage user access, roles, and permissions to ensure data confidentiality and integrity.
  • Regularly test and evaluate security measures to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.
  • Continuously monitor database performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Proactively tune databases to optimize efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Implement performance enhancements to meet evolving business needs.
  • Implement changes to the database environment through established change management procedures.
  • Thoroughly test and validate changes before deployment to minimize risk and disruption.

Key Accountabilities

  • Carry out daily operations assigned for the department to comply with the company s standards.
  • Prepare timely and accurate department reports to meet the requirements, objectives, and standards of the company and the department.
  • Ensure the satisfaction of internal and external customers to address their needs in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Follow all relevant policies, procedures, and processes in order for the work to be carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of processes and practices, work processes, cost effectiveness, and productivity enhancement.
  • Promote to other employees within the organization the implementation and adherence to policies, procedures, processes, and instructions.
  • Maintain a good and respectful relationship with other colleagues and represent the company in a good image.

Education and Certifications

  • A bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field is required. A master degree is preferred.
  • Oracle/SQL professional level certification (e.g. OCA, OCP, MCSA Database Administration)

Knowledge and Experience

  • 6 + years of experience in Database field is required

Skills Required

  • Ability to work in teams and individually
  • Decision making and problem solving
  • Result orientation and prioritization
  • Oracle Exadata, Golden Gate, RAC, DataGuard
  • SQL Server, High Availability, Availability group, Backup and recovery, system auditing etc.
