Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe and timely delivery of goods to designated locations, adhering to traffic regulations and safety protocols.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify and address any mechanical issues, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery schedules to optimize route efficiency and accountability.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to provide updates on delivery status and resolve any potential issues promptly.
  • Load and unload cargo securely, using proper techniques to prevent damage and ensure safety during transit.
  • Stay informed about road conditions, traffic patterns, and weather forecasts to adjust routes as necessary for optimal delivery times.
  • Manage and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the vehicle, ensuring it is presentable and operational at all times.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding the handling of hazardous materials, if applicable, to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance driving skills and stay updated on industry best practices.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service, ensuring that deliveries are made with professionalism and respect for client needs.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Valid heavy vehicle driver's license and a clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in heavy-duty driving, ideally within the freight or logistics sector.
  • Strong communication skills, fluency in English is essential; additional language skills are a bonus.
  • Proven track record of reliability, punctuality, and professionalism in a driving capacity.
  • Proficiency in basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards in transportation.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude towards challenges on the road.
