Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Conducts regular safety inspections of the kitchen, public areas, guest rooms, stores, and engineering facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Performs preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, and constructive works across all hotel areas to maintain optimal functionality of equipment and systems.

Proposes and recommends upgrading, improvement work, and energy-saving projects to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Ensures efficient engineering operations are being met, and quality standards are maintained throughout the property.

Responds promptly to guest complaints and maintenance requests, providing timely and effective solutions.

Maintains accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for future reference and auditing purposes.

Collaborates with other departments to coordinate maintenance schedules and minimise disruptions to hotel operations.

Monitors and manages inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.

Assists in the development and implementation of energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.

Provides technical support and guidance to other staff members on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.

Participates in emergency response procedures and assists in the coordination of evacuation drills.

Ensures compliance with all relevant local and national regulations pertaining to building maintenance, safety, and environmental standards.

Desired Candidate Profile

Secondary / High school education or equivalent

Trade Certificate with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar capacity

Good reading and oral proficiency in English language

Proven experience in building maintenance, HVAC systems, and electrical systems

Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations in the hospitality industry

Proficiency in using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS)

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Strong leadership and team management abilities

Valid certifications in relevant technical areas (e.g., electrical, plumbing, or HVAC)

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics

Excellent time management and organisational skills

Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces

Additional language skills, particularly in languages common among hotel guests, would be advantageous

Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
