Wood is currently recruiting for an E & I Construction Lead to join its Singapore business unit focusing on developing detailed execution strategies and construction plans for electrical and instrumentation systems for a major onshore brownfield project in Basra, Iraq on 5*3 rotation.

This is a full-time onsite position in Basra, Iraq, with travel requirement.

Reports to: Site Manager

Expected:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Technical Diploma in Electrical & Instrumentation.
• A recognized electrical or instrumentation trade qualification.
• Extensive experience on major construction projects is essential, including greenfield (new construction) and brownfield (expansions) sites.
• Strong Engineering background in oil and gas industry
• Communicates effectively and has strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to supervise contractors and vendors.
• Experience with specific E&I systems and equipment, such as DCS/PLC/ICSS, metering systems, and high/medium/low voltage systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control system layouts.
• In-depth knowledge of E&I systems, relevant industry codes (like IEC, NEC), and safety regulations.

Job Purpose

• Develop detailed execution strategies and construction plans for electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Manage subcontractors, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery. Also ensures availability of necessary personnel, plant, tools, and temporary facilities.
• Supervise the installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of E&I systems, ensuring they meet project specifications and industry standards.
• Ensure all E&I activities comply with project requirements, national and company safety standards, and quality assurance procedures.
• Liaise with design, commissioning, and client teams to facilitate project milestones and system turnovers.
• Provide technical support to resolve complex E&I problems, lead troubleshooting efforts, and support E&I related issues during the construction phase.
• Interface with stakeholders for participation in various project meetings/workshops i.e. HAZOP, Model Reviews.
• Liaise with Operations in coordinating shutdown planning, site access during construction and SIMOPS activities.
• Driving (HSSE) standards, procedures, rules, and regulations amongst the work force.
• Mentoring local national employees
