Role & responsibilities

Electrical and Medical Gas Engineer


* Supervise the operation and maintenance of electrical systems (distribution panels, generators, UPS).

* Monitor electrical loads and ensure there are no faults or overloads.

* Implement preventive and scheduled maintenance plans for all electrical equipment.

* Respond immediately to electrical faults and emergencies, minimizing downtime.

* Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards within the hospital.

* Coordinate with medical departments to ensure uninterrupted power supply for critical equipment (ICU, operating rooms).

* Supervise medical gas systems (oxygen, medical air, nitrous oxide, vacuum).

* Monitor gas pressure and purity, ensuring compliance with specifications.

* Maintain central gas networks (tanks, pipelines, distribution units).

* Ensure continuous supply with no leaks or interruptions.

* Conduct periodic testing of gas outlets in clinical areas.

* Coordinate with suppliers and maintenance contractors for gas systems.

* Apply safety standards such as NFPA and HTM (as per hospital policy).

* Develop contingency plans for power or gas outages.

* Investigate technical incidents and prepare detailed reports.

* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., Ministry of Health and accreditation bodies).
