Design, install, and maintain electrical distribution systems for the plant, including transformers, switchgear, and motor control centers (MCCs).

Develop and implement electrical control systems using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) or other automation technologies to automate equipment operation and optimize plant processes.

Perform arc flash hazard analyses and implement appropriate safety measures to safeguard personnel working on electrical equipment.

Select and specify electrical equipment like motors, drives, and variable frequency drives (VFDs) considering factors like power requirements, application suitability, and energy efficiency.

Ensure proper grounding and earthing of electrical systems to prevent electrical hazards and equipment damage

Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans for all plant electrical equipment to minimize downtime and ensure long-term reliability.

Conduct inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems to identify and resolve malfunctions promptly.

Liaise with maintenance technicians to provide technical guidance and support for electrical repairs and replacements

Ensure the operation of the plant is conducted through the SCADA system, strictly adhering to the established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This includes monitoring and controlling plant processes via the SCADA interface to guarantee efficiency, safety, and compliance with all operational protocols.

Prepare detailed daily and comprehensive monthly reports summarizing key metrics, operational activities, and performance outcomes. These reports should include data analysis and any significant events or deviations from expected performance, ensuring they are timely submitted to the relevant department for review and record-keeping.

Work closely with process engineers and plant operations personnel to understand process needs and ensure electrical systems effectively support production activities.

Analyze electrical data to identify areas for improvement and implement measures to optimize energy consumption and overall plant efficiency.

Contribute to the development and implementation of plant safety procedures related to electrical equipment and systems.

Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant electrical codes and safety regulations (e.g., National Electrical Code) and ensure all electrical installations and operations comply with these standards.

Participate in plant audits and inspections related to electrical safety

Communicating effectively with plant operators, maintenance technicians, other engineers, and management to ensure smooth workflow and project success.

Documenting maintenance procedures and technical reports.

Staying up-to-date on industry best practices and new technologies related to electrical engineering.

Analyse how these systems interact and identify areas for improvement in terms of efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

They troubleshoot operational issues, diagnose electrical equipment failures, and develop solutions to maintain smooth plant operation.

Ensure all electrical systems comply with safety regulations and industry standards.

Stay updated on the latest technologies and materials to implement advancements in the plant's electrical systems
