Roles & Responsibilities

Wood is seeking a motivated Emirati graduate to join a trainee role supporting the administration and functional support of Engineering Document Management Systems (EDMS) used on major energy and process plant projects.

An EDMS is the controlled system used to manage project documents and engineering deliverables, including document registration, metadata, review workflows, revision control, transmittals, access permissions, reporting and final handover records.

The successful candidate will support day-to-day EDMS activities, including user support, system configuration, access management, workflow support, reporting, data quality checks, user training and issue resolution. The role will provide exposure to how project documents, engineering deliverables and records are controlled across complex project environments.

This role would suit a graduate with a degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Records Management, Library / Information Science, or another relevant discipline with an interest in systems administration, data quality and structured information management.

Exposure to EDMS platforms, document control, project systems, SharePoint, databases, reporting tools or system administration would be beneficial, but is not essential.

Wood will provide mentoring, training and hands-on project exposure. The successful candidate will work with experienced EDMS, document control and project systems specialists and develop the skills required to support and administer business-critical project information systems.

  • Capable of comprehending, interpreting, and applying complex technical information relevant to the engineering discipline
  • Effectively translates engineering theory into practical applications across project tasks and deliverables
  • Applies standards, processes, and procedures with competence in day-to-day execution of engineering work
  • Possesses sound understanding of regulatory frameworks and relevant legislation impacting engineering projects
  • Executes assigned tasks confidently within their engineering discipline, ensuring quality and compliance
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and developments within the discipline
  • Interprets technical data to suggest optimized design solutions that enhance functionality and cost-efficiency
  • Recognizes and adheres to internal policies and procedures influencing project and task execution
  • Prepares clear, accurate, and comprehensive written communications, reports, and documentation
  • Demonstrates solid general computer literacy with familiarity in specialist engineering software tools

  • Graduate level of knowledge of regulatory framework and associated legislation.
  • Graduate level of competence in own discipline in the execution of assigned tasks.
  • Graduate level of knowledge of industry and technology development within discipline area
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and prepare applicable technical information and suggest design changes to ensure functional and cost effective results
  • Demonstrates awareness of policies and procedures that affect specific job assignments
  • Ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete and easily understood written communications and reports
  • Good level of general computer literacy and basic familiarity with some relevant specialist engineering software

Desired Candidate Profile

Expected:

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Information Management / Library Science, Business Administration, Computer Science / IT, Records Management
  • Basic understanding of document lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with business processes and workflows
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Basic exposure to SharePoint, DMS, or ECM tools (academic or internship level is fine)
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
