Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Purpose:

Perform routine and specialized assisted reproductive technology procedures and techniques under the direction of the physician.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Performs basic ART laboratory techniques.
  • Performs oocyte retrieval/pick-ups.
  • Removal of cumulus cells from oocytes (Oocyte denudation).
  • Fertilizes oocytes through recognized methods available (Conventional IVF, ICSI) as the case may require, through the acceptable forms.
  • Performs embryo culture techniques.
  • Performs Infra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI).
  • Evaluates embryo development and records results in a good comprehensive order.
  • Performs embryo transfers (ET) and Pro nuclear Stage Tubal Transfer (PROST).
  • Embryo cryopreservation.
  • Embryo thawing.
  • Prepares tubes, dishes and transfer media for the daily cases.
  • Requisition and maintenance of reagents and other IVF laboratory supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the job.

Skills and Abilities:

Computer skills.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of IVF Laboratory.
  • Have documented training, which includes performing at least 60 ART procedures under supervision subject to interview and evaluation.
  • Obtain at least 20 30 hours of accredited continuing education annually in ART or clinical laboratory practice.
  • Performed at least 20 ART procedures per year

Education:

A graduate of Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or equivalent.

Language:

Fluency in written & spoken English & Arabic.

Licenses / Certifications:

License for practice as per the regional health regulatory authority e.g. (SCFHS / DHA)
