Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Rapidly assess and triage patients to prioritize care based on severity of conditions, ensuring high-risk cases are addressed first.
  • Administer emergency medications and treatments according to protocols while monitoring patient responses for any adverse reactions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians and paramedics, to develop and implement effective emergency care plans.
  • Perform life-saving procedures such as intubation, chest tube insertion, and CPR, demonstrating proficiency in advanced emergency techniques.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and promptly in electronic health records to maintain a clear and legal medical history.
  • Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, post-discharge care, and preventive measures to enhance recovery and health.
  • Maintain emergency equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness for a variety of medical scenarios that may arise in the emergency department.
  • Participate in regular training and drills to stay current on best practices in emergency care and response protocols.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families in crisis situations, demonstrating empathy and strong communication skills.
  • Adhere to all regulatory and safety standards, including infection control protocols, to create a safe environment for patients and staff.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or an equivalent nursing degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current nursing license in the relevant jurisdiction, with a preference for candidates holding additional certifications in emergency care.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a fast-paced emergency department or critical care environment.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of emergency protocols, trauma assessment, and critical care management to ensure competent nursing practice.
  • Fluency in English, with additional language skills being an advantage to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make critical decisions swiftly, showcasing excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
  • High level of physical stamina and resilience to perform demanding tasks in a physically and emotionally intense environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the needs of the emergency department.
