The United Arab Emirates Red Crescent Authority was established on January 31, 1983, and gained international recognition as the 139th member of the International Federation of Red Crescent and Red Cross Societies on August 27, 1986. Under the dedicated chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Authority has significantly expanded its humanitarian efforts both regionally and globally. In 1997, the Authority's mission was further strengthened when Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak accepted the position of Honorary President of the Emirates Red Crescent. Over more than four decades, the Emirates Red Crescent has grown into one of the most respected and active humanitarian organizations in the world — delivering relief, development, and emergency response programs across dozens of countries. Guided by the values of compassion, solidarity, and service that define the UAE's humanitarian vision, the Emirates Red Crescent continues to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable communities across the globe.
