Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking Engineering Design Specialists, Study Managers, and Cost Controllers to join our team as we bid for an upcoming mining project.

Ideal candidates will be seasoned professionals with proven experience in delivering the following for mining projects (gold experience is highly advantageous):

  • Early-Stage Scoping Studies
  • Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Studies
  • EPCM Services for Project Execution

Mechanical Engineer: Mining study experience including defining mechanical design criteria; specifying equipment; scoping, evaluating and managing service provider, vendor and contractor packages, and in particular SPM contracts; assessing the maintainability, reliability, operability and constructability of mechanical systems; coordinating, overseeing and developing site and plant layouts, trade-off studies and cost estimates, have a working knowledge of piping and material handling systems.

Electrical Engineer: Mining study experience including defining electrical design criteria, load requirements and equipment lists with specifications; evaluate and scope power supply options (grid, gensets, renewables), substation and other electrical facility needs; scoping, evaluating and managing service provider, vendor and contractor packages; oversee electrical systems development and design; have a working knowledge of hazardous area classifications, risk and electrical safety systems; have a working knowledge of control systems and instrumentation; oversee/develop cost estimates.

Process Control and Instrumentation Engineer: Mining study experience including defining automation and controls strategies, control system architecture (DCS, PLC, SCADA) and communications protocols and setting design criteria; scoping, evaluating and managing service provider, vendor and contractor packages; evaluating instrumentation and controls technologies for harsh mining environments; scoping and overseeing the development of P&IDS, I/O lists and control narratives, critical loops and safety instrumented systems; have a working knowledge of Hazard and related studies; have a working knowledge of site IT systems and cybersecurity risk mitigation for control systems.

Civil Engineer: Mining study experience including defining civil, structural and architectural design criteria; conducting site reconnaissance and selection studies; scoping, evaluating and managing service provider, vendor and contractor packages including logistics (remote site access), survey (topography), geotechnical and hydrology studies; oversee/coordinate and develop earthworks, drainage, roads, foundations, and site services designs and cost estimates; have a working knowledge of environmental studies, waste management, constructability reviews, construction scheduling and EPCM contracts.

Mining Engineer: Mining study experience including setting mine design and layout criteria; evaluate mining methods (open pit and underground); oversee and develop mine designs, pit shell optimization, production schedules, fleet and equipment sizing and selection, haul roads, stockpiles and waste dumps, and cost estimates; support mine infrastructure planning; scoping, evaluating and managing service provider, equipment supplier, and contractor packages; have a working knowledge of financial models; have a working knowledge of scoping and conducting geotech, hydro and hydrogeological studies.

Process Engineer: Mining study experience including defining process design criteria; overseeing and developing process flowsheets, mass, water and energy balances; evaluating process technologies; scoping and overseeing metallurgical test work and interpreting the results; overseeing, assessing and providing input into plant layouts and utility requirements; oversee, conduct and/or coordinate Hazop studies; scoping, evaluating and managing service provider and equipment supplier packages; have a working knowledge of cost estimating and risk.

Metallurgist: Mining study experience including scoping, managing, evaluating and delivering metallurgical test work programs with supporting sampling programs and ore characterization studies; the analysis and evaluation of test work and study results; assisting with the development and oversight of process design criteria, flowsheet selection and process plant equipment selection; working knowledge of blasting, comminution circuits, and the scoping, evaluating and managing of service provider and equipment supplier packages; and risk management.

Project and Study Manager: Mining study and project experience with the primary role of delivering studies and projects successfully to Client standards and expectations; responsible for compliance, scope, schedule and budget management; change management, stakeholder management; with a good working knowledge of procurement, risk management processes, financial modeling and evaluating contingency, estimating, electronic document control systems, and the planning for study and project execution phases. Have experience in managing EPCM projects.

Cost Controller: Mining study and project experience with the primary role of managing and reporting on progress, tracking cost, managing payments, and managing change control; have a working knowledge of overseeing the development of study cost estimates and financial models, setting up cost control and reporting procedures, forecasting and assisting with the procurement of delivery services. Have experience in project controls for EPCM projects

Desired Candidate Profile

Engineering Design: Bachelor s degree in Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of experience in similar experience

  • Cost Controller: Bachelor s degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in similar experience.
  • Study Manager: Bachelor s degree and a minimum of 15 years of experience managing studies for mining projects.
