Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Manage engineering operations within a large-scale, 24/7 marine terminal environment, ensuring all activities are safely and effectively resourced.
  • Oversee multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating with delivery partners, ensuring timely and safe handover of assets from construction to operation.
  • Lead operations across multiple locations within the port area, requiring extensive stakeholder coordination and rapid response to emergencies or service disruptions.
  • Ensure continuous performance enhancement while maintaining strict compliance with safety and operational standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent discipline).

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in engineering and maintenance within a marine, port, or industrial terminal environment.
  • Proven track record in managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams and contractors in a high-demand operational setting.

Knowledge/ Skills:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent planning, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing maintenance strategies and engineering policies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of marine terminal systems, tugboat operations, and associated safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Energetic and adaptable, with the ability to respond effectively to high workloads, emergencies, and operational challenges.
  • Thorough understanding of QHSSE principles and their application in terminal and marine operations.

Desired Candidate Profile

Requirements:

  • Manage engineering and maintenance activities across terminal facilities, tugs, and associated assets.
  • Ensure efficient management of engineering teams, contractors, and consultants.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor engineering and maintenance plans.
  • Analyze infrastructure and fleet performance, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to external regulations and internal engineering standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance, utilization, and performance of the terminal s equipment, tugboats, and mechanical systems.
  • Manage the department s financial, administrative, and human resources functions.
  • Oversee spare parts, inventory, and material control systems.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for all engineering-related matters.
  • Continuously evaluate and upgrade technology, tools, and staff competencies.
  • Develop and enforce departmental policies, procedures, and performance standards.

Safety, Quality, and Compliance (QHSSE & IMS)

  • Promote a world-class safety culture and ensure all engineering operations comply with ASYAD s QHSSE and Information Security Management Systems (IMS).
  • Enforce the company s Golden Safety Rules.
  • Ensure that all staff, contractors, and visitors operate in a safe environment.
  • Take immediate action to stop unsafe practices and report hazards promptly.
  • Lead by example in conserving energy, water, and other resources.
  • Protect company information assets and ensure compliance with data protection and information security requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety reviews, audits, and inspections.
  • Guarantee that required training, certifications, and risk management programs are implemented and maintained.

Performance & Customer Service

  • Ensure customer satisfaction KPIs are met through reliable operations and proactive issue resolution.
  • Drive performance improvements and implement systems to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Deliver productivity and efficiency targets.
  • Ensure all engineering personnel are trained, competent, and certified.
