The International University of Science & Technology in Kuwait (IUK) is a newly established private university in Kuwait, with a new Campus located in the heart of Kuwait near the Avenues Mall. Fully accredited by the Private Universities Council (PUC), the University offers a wide range of academic programs in Engineering, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. In addition to the academic programs, the IUK has established the University Foundation Program (UFP) that offers English and Maths foundation programs. The IUK is looking for dynamic full-time instructors who are passionate about teaching, contributing to developing a vibrant and successful learning environment with students.

Position Summary

The University Foundation Program (UFP) at the IUK is a pre-university program that allows the students who could not satisfy the requirements of the English language and Mathematics. The UFP consist of the English Foundation Program and the Math Foundation Program. The curriculum of the UFP is designed to upgrade student s skills to develop their capabilities to proceed with their university study. The English Foundation Program is designed to develop and upgrade the student s English language skills in order to be capable of joining the academic programs. Once the students complete the English University Foundation Program, they will possess the capabilities to:

• 
  Communicate with the instructor and the colleagues in the classroom orally or through formal presentations.
• 
  Understanding written and spoken university-level materials;
• 
  Write and compose academic assignments according to standard American English;

The English Foundation Program at IUK consists of two levels and requires one year (2 semesters) to complete. The proficiency of students varies and depends on the language ability, student s endeavor and his/her performance. Each level of the University Foundation Program consists of 20 hours of instruction per week. Depending on the student s needs, the instructor may assign extra Lab hours; if needed, students attending Level 1 of the UFP-English must participate in reading/writing Lab of five hours a week.

Responsibilities:

• Teaching different English foundation levels according to his/her specialty experience.
• Commitment to teaching Schedules, Office Hours, Preparation, Service, and Professional Development
• Promoting innovation in teaching by introducing new teaching methodologies and strategies.
• Engaging with students in and out of the classroom.
• Mentoring new colleagues and teaching assistants
• Participating in the UFP s and university s events and supporting collegiality.
• Supporting the UFP Unit and the university in organizing seminars, international conferences, and faculty events.
• The teaching load of each instructor is 20 contact hours per week, in addition to the office hours, professional development UFP assignments and committee services.
• Supporting the mission of the UFP at the IUK by following the set curriculum and working towards achieving the program objectives and student learning outcomes.
  

Required Qualifications:

Master s degree in Second Language Education, Linguistics, or English in combination with CELTA or TESOL certification (or equivalent). Please note that currently, online degrees are not recognized by the ministry of higher education in Kuwait.

Required Experience

• A minimum of three years of teaching experience in ESL/EFL at the university level in similar preparatory bridge programs/English foundation programs.
• Proven experience in using different learning management systems and in adopting e-learning teaching strategies.
• Knowledge of the accreditation of English preparatory programs.
