Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Environmental and Chemical Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operons and workflow

of environmental and chemical teasing cavies. This includes supervising laboratory staff, ensuring adherence to safety

and quality standards, and cordoning teasing schedules in compliance with environmental regulons and laboratory

protocols. The role ensures Mely, accurate, and compliant repouring of chemical and environmental analyses.

  • Conducting precise and accurate analysis of environmental samples (water, soil, air) using established laboratory methods and instrumentation.
  • Maintaining detailed and organized records of all laboratory activities, including sample tracking, analysis results, and quality control data, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
  • Calibrating, operating, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment (e.g., GC, ICP-MS, spectrophotometers) to ensure optimal performance and reliable results.
  • Performing quality control checks and implementing corrective actions to ensure the accuracy and reliability of analytical data.
  • Adhering to all laboratory safety protocols and regulations, including proper handling of chemicals, waste disposal, and personal protective equipment.
  • Preparing and standardizing reagents, solutions, and media following established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Participating in method development, validation, and optimization to improve analytical performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborating with other laboratory staff and scientists to ensure efficient workflow and effective communication.
  • Preparing technical reports, summarizing findings, and presenting data to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Staying current with advancements in environmental analytical techniques and regulations through continuous learning and professional development.

Desired Candidate Profile

Laboratory Operons Supervision

  • Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field, providing a strong scientific foundation.
  • Demonstrates a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in an environmental laboratory setting, showcasing practical expertise.
  • Holds relevant certifications such as a Certified Environmental Chemist (CEC) or equivalent, indicating professional competence.
  • Exhibits a proven track record in the environmental testing and analysis industry, demonstrating a focus on real-world application.
  • Displays a strong understanding of environmental regulations and standards, ensuring compliance and best practices.
  • Proficient in using laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other relevant software for data analysis and reporting, enhancing efficiency.
  • Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring the integrity and reliability of analytical results.
  • Exhibits excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting complex data and troubleshooting issues effectively.
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and reporting of findings.
  • Demonstrates a proactive and results-oriented approach to work, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

1. Laboratory Operations

  • Coordinate daily laboratory activities related to water, soil, air, and chemical testing.
  • Allocate testing tasks and monitor workflow to ensure testing deadlines and client requirements are met.
  • Supervise lab technicians, analysts, and support staff, ensuring correct procedures are followed.
  • Ensure proper logging, labeling, and documentation of all samples received for testing.

2. Technical Oversight & Testing Support

  • Oversee the execution of analytical methods such as ICP, GC-MS, UV-Vis, AAS, and wet chemistry techniques.
  • Ensure strict adherence to test procedures based on regulatory and standard methods (e.g., EPA, APHA, ISO, ASTM).
  • Validate and approve test results before submission to the Technical and Laboratory Manager or clients.
  • Assist in method development and troubleshooting of analytical issues.

3. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure all laboratory practices comply with ISO/IEC 17025 standards, environmental regulations, and internal SOPs.
  • Support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions following internal or external audits.
  • Ensure that testing equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and used correctly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for traceability and audit readiness.

4. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance

  • Enforce proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and environmental samples.
  • Ensure full compliance with HSE protocols and the use of PPE in all laboratory activities.
  • Lead safety briefings, chemical spill drills, and maintain up-to-date MSDS records.
  • Identify and report hazards, and participate in regular HSE inspections.

5. Reporting and Documentation

  • Review and approve test data, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and integrity in all reports.
  • Maintain laboratory records, logs, and databases for all testing activities and equipment usage.
  • Report operational issues, non-conformances, and resource needs to the Laboratory Manager.

6. Client and Regulatory Support

  • Serve as a technical point of contact for client inquiries and data clarification.
  • Support project requirements related to environmental impact assessments, regulatory compliance testing, and industrial discharge monitoring.
  • Participate in meetings with regulatory bodies or external stakeholders, as needed.
