Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Missions/Main Duties
- Lead and oversee sustainability and environmental strategies for the high-speed rail project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with UAE regulations and international best practices.
- Develop and implement environmental management systems (EMS) and sustainability frameworks for design, construction, and operations phases.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant UAE federal and local environmental laws, sustainability policies, and requirements from regulatory authorities.
- Coordinate environmental permitting and approvals, including EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment), ecological and social impact studies.
- Advise the project team on integrating sustainable solutions, including energy efficiency, water conservation, waste minimization, and green building standards.
- Monitor and report environmental performance and sustainability KPIs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Engage with stakeholders: Including government agencies, local communities, and consultants, to communicate environmental management and sustainability initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance on environmental risk management, mitigation measures, and remediation strategies.
- Conduct training and awareness programs for project staff and contractors on sustainability and environmental compliance.
- Support procurement by integrating sustainable sourcing and waste management requirements into contract documents.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education: Bachelor s degree (Master s preferred) in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or related field.
Background:
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in environmental and sustainability management, ideally in rail, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects.
- In-depth knowledge of UAE environmental regulations and international sustainability standards (LEED, BREEAM, ISO 14001, etc.).
- Experience with Environmental Impact Assessments and environmental permitting in the UAE or GCC.
- Strong project management and communication skills; ability to influence multidisciplinary teams.
- Professional certification in sustainability or environmental management is an advantage.
- Fluent in English.
